30/30 I Made It!

This is the final outfit for the 30 for 30 challenge.  I apologize for the pictures being a little blurry, I couldn't get the lighting right.  This outfits kinda says, "preppy, got-it-together" mom to me, ya think?  If so, then I can fool a lot of people wearing this - they might actually think I've "got-it-together" and I so don't!

jacket - Target
striped sweater - Loft
chambray shirt - Target
jeans - Loft
boots - Nine West
necklace - Kohls
belt - who knows?

So, what did I learn from the challenge?

1.  I've got way too many clothes!  (I will be cleaning out the closet in January.)
2.  I can be creative with styling and accessorizing - and it's fun!
3.  It feels good to look good!
4.  I don't have to shop to come up with a "new" outfit - I just have to play around with what I have.
5.  Accessories are less expensive than clothes and can change the look of your whole outfit.

All in all, I give this experience a thumbs up!  You should try it with me next time!!

29/30....Hair experimentation....

I know it's late in the challenge, but today, I wanted to experiment with my hair as an accessory.  I've used everything elso I could think of, so why not.  So I watched a tutorial on the poofy ponytail and gave it a shot.  I thought it turned out pretty good, and then my husband came home last night and said, "Hey Cutie!".  So, I'll call this a winner.  What do you think?

28/30....Moving right along

I am determined to be done with this challenge tomorrow and be finished posting about it.  I am yearning to get on with new and exciting (at least exciting to me!) posts.  So, I am posting another outfit today, I will post my last 2 tomorrow and I will be done!  Yay!!  Here we go....

sweater - Kohls
striped t - Loft
jeggings - Old Navy
clogs - Target

This outfit is definitely out of the box for me.  I would not normally wear the striped t and fair isle sweater together, but for the challenge, what the hey!  I really kind of like it.  Thoughts?

27/30 Winter florals

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.....almost there - only 3 more outfits to go!   Do you like florals in the winter?  Something about wearing a floral print this time of year keeps things fresh I think.   I have really enjoyed this tunic - it's thin and easy to layer, and hello flowers!   What do you think about wearing flowers this time of year?

26/30 A little switcheroo.....

Well it has gotten cold down here in the south!  The highs have been in the 40s this week and we are not used to these temps in December!  I know all you guys with snow on the ground are laughing about our "cold spell"  right now, but it has presented somewhat of a problem for me and this challenge.  While I do have a few warm sweaters in my closet, I did not include them in my 30 for 30 the challenge.  However, I did include a pair of black high heeled boots that I have not worn, so I made a decision - switch out the boots for another sweater!  Technically, I don't think this is cheating because I have still only worn 30 items - but at this point, I'm cold and I don't care!  And here's the sweater......

25/30 The Belted Scarf

Oh my gosh - only 5 more outfits to go! Yahoo!  I must admit, I have wanted to quit this challenge on several occassions, but alas, I am not a quitter!  So, when I picked out this outfit I reached deep into my creative brain and  tried to think about styles I have not yet tried.  That's when I remembered the belted scarf!  I am probably the last blogger to try this look, but here is my version:

sweater - Loft
striped t-shirt - Target
skinny jeans - Old Navy
boots - Nine West
scarf - do not know
belt - Gap
jacket - TJ Maxx

This outfit was great of going out to the mall and getting some of my Christmas shopping done.  I could walk all day in these flat heeled boots!  What shoes or boots do you like to wear for a day of shopping?

24/30 Does this say Merry Christmas or I love my country?

At this stage of the game I feel just about maxed out on my remix options.  I put this outfit together and it really needed some color, and what better color than red!  This scarf is really short and I needed to style it some way, so I searched threw my accessory drawer and came up with this floral pin that I've had forever.  So, is this saying Merry Christmas, or U.S.A.?

21/30 On the home stretch!

This week we are on the home stretch of Kendi's 30 for 30 challenge.   I have to say, the challenge has been a good experience for me.   It has made me think out of the box and come up with outftis that I otherwise would not have.   It has also made me save money by not shopping, but I feel like I have missed out on some bargains with Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  Oh well, there will still be bargains to be found at the after Christmas sales!  On with numero viente uno:

This outfit is one of my favorites.  I love this cozy fair isle sweater.  It will definitely be on of my staple items for this winter!  Pulled together with skinny cargos and boots and this outfit becomes a winner!

19/30 - Gettin' Creative!

Are you guys still stuffed from your turkey dinner?   I swear my clothes have felt tighter these past few days!  Back to the gym this week!   I wore this outfit this weekend when we were getting out our Christmas decorations.   It was loose and comfy - just what I needed!   I am also trying to put together some combinations of clothing that I would not have tried before without the challenge.....here goes:

Recuperation and 18/30

Happy Friday everyone!   I hope you had a wonderful and very thankful Thanksgiving.   Our day was great!  My in-laws came over (Mom and Dad in law, brother-in-law, wife, and 2 girls) and they spent the night.   My father-in-law is a beautiful man inside and out, and has unfortunatley been diagnosed with alzheimers.   We weren't sure how this Thanksgiving would be for him because lately the disease has really been rearing its ugly head.   My sweet mother-in-law takes care of him 24/7 to make sure he is kept on a normal routine and to keep him safe.  Well, God is good!  He was perfectly content yesterday and this morning,  and my mother-in-law was able to relax and visit with her children and grandchildren.   For this, I am so thankful!

In my last post, I showed you pictures of some Thanksgiving centerpieces that I looked at to find inspiration for my own centerpiece.  This is what I came up with:

The best part of all was that I only spent $8.50 to make the centerpiece!  I already had the iron stand that the, the candles, and the bird ornaments.  I purchased the moss, mums and pumpkins from Walmart, came home and played around with everything until, voila!  I think it came together nicely, no?

On to my 18th outfit.....simple, simple, simple!  It was a little warm here, so I needed to hang up my outer layers for the day.  You can't get any easier than a white t and a scarf!

Tailgating fun and outfit 14!

On Saturday, we took the boys to a South Carolina football game - it was little G's first!   For those of you that know me, don't worry - my blood still runneth orange!   I am actually a Clemson grad and I love my Tigers, but I have married a Carolina grad and he does rule football in this house.   Our boys are growing up Gamecock fans, but I wouldn't change that bond between father and sons for anything!   Anyway, we had a great time tailgating with friends and watching the Gamecocks dominate!

12 and 13....Playing catch up!

Happy Turkey Week everyone!  If you are like me, you have a million things going on this week!  We have my husband's family coming for Thanksgiving and spending the night so we are getting the house ready.  With that said, I won't waste any more time - let's get right to the outfits......

This outfit came together pretty nicely I think.  I love tone on tone looks, and when I held these 2 sweaters next to each other I new it would work perfectly!  What do you think?  Do you ever try tone on tone combos?

I just love a long cardi, jeggings, and flats - super easy and comfy!
jeggins - Old Navy
olive cardi - Forever 21
green sweater - Loft
bronze flats - Lindsay Phillips
necklace - ebay

Now with this next outfit I am really channeling my inner Rachel Zoe (I didn't think about that until my friend Amy called me Rachel Zoe!).  Rachel just loves flowy blouses topped with fur and of course, a heel.  If you are keeping track, this blouse was not in my original 30, but I had to trade out my black leggings (which I have not worn in this challenge) because I realized I had not included any long enough tops to cover my derriere!  Oops!

Stay tuned....I will be posting more later!

11/30 - What accessories can do for you!

Yay!  It's Friday!  We have big plans this weekend that include a sleepover and a Gamecock football game for the boys (little G's first!).  The boys are so excited!  We are planning a good old fashioned tailgate and lots of fun!  I'll post pictures next week!

Earlier this week I had the inspiration to do a post on how accessories can change what we are wearing.   In my 11th outfit of the 30 for 30 challenge, my accessories made all the difference!   Let me demonstrate:

Here we have a plain Jane outfit that I could go work in the yard in (if I did yard work - which I don't!):

Hmmm...what can we do with this outfit?  Let's see, change the shoes,  add a necklace, how about another necklace, add a belt, roll the sleeves up , add bracelets and ring, and voila!

Big improvement, don't you think?
