I found that item today, at Target! I had a dentist appointment and needed to kill some time before meeting a girlfriend for lunch, so I browsed through Target. I was about to leave the women's clothing department when out of the corner of my eye I spotted this:

Hey guys - if anyone i still out there! I am sorry that I have not posted in so long, but I needed to take a break from posting and gain some perspective of what I want to do with my life right now. As you know, I am a stay at home mom with 2 boys in elementary school. I love being a stay at home mom. I love my mornings when I can exercise, gather my thoughts, run errands and prepare myself for the after school rush of homework, activities, supper and bedtime. I love the bond that I have with the boys, I love spending time with them, helping with homework, and the gift of being able to watch them grow and mature into young men. However, with the cost of gas, groceries, clothing, etc. rising, it is time that I help out financially. I have been trying to figure out how to meet the needs of myself and my family, and I think I might have found it. I have discovered a wonderful company called Vault Denim.

Vault Denim is a home party business that sells designer jeans at a discount. That's right, you read it correctly- designer jeans! How can the do that, you might ask? They have contracts with designers to buy the designer overstocks and sell them to us. All the names you know and love - Joe Jeans, Sevens, AG, William Rast, to name a few. Vault Denim sells them at up to a 50% discount! Have you ever been to a home party where you actually are buying products for less than you can buy them at the retail store? Me neither! I also love that there is no pressure to buy - you go to your friend's house, try on some jeans, if you like them you buy, if you don't or the don't fit, you don't buy. That's it! The consultant brings inventory to your home, you and your girls try on jeans until your hearts content and you take them home with you! No waiting around for your order to come in! What else is great about this company? It's only a year old, so we're at the ground floor!

Field Trip

How do you like my new shirt? There is a story behind it and it goes a little something like this. Two ladies, while their kids were in school, decided to take a field trip and have a little adventure. We cruised on down to the 5 Points area of Columbia, SC where we came upon a little consignment shop called Revente. Now, this isn't any consignment shop, it's an upscale consignment shop. That's right, I said "upscale". What does that mean? It means designer labels at a fraction of the cost, baby! We're talking Tory Burch, Tibi, Adriano Goldschmied with some Lily, Ann Taylor, and Banana Republic thrown it - but that's as low end as they go. We piled items up in the dressing room and tried on to our hearts were content. In the end I scored this Tibi Blouse, a pair of AG jeans, a French Connection top and a pair of Banana Republic shorts all for less than $150. I can't wait to show you the rest of my scores!

Calls in the middle of the night....

Do you ever get calls in the middle of the night that make you heart skip a beat (or four) and then turn out to be nothing? That happened to me last night, at 3:00 AM. The phone rings and caller ID says Lexington Medical Center - my heart has now stopped. I groggily say, "Hello." Voice at other end says, "Hi! This is Liz, is this Nikki?" Me again, "Umm, no, wrong number." What the hell, Liz? It's 3:00 in the morning! I am sure this Nikki is asleep just like I was! What do people think? It's not even the weekend, it's a Wednesday night (or Thursday morning, rather)! And then, I was too mad to go back to sleep for at least 30 minutes.

Enough about annoying strangers who call from medical centers in the middle of the night. How do you feel about daytime sequins? I love just a touch of them added in a casual way. The shirt that I have on in this picture is almost like a sweatshirt, and definitely as comfortable as one. I love how it added a little bling to the outfit. I will need a little bling added to my day today:)

Okay, so I put this top on and the jeans and flats, looked in the mirror and thought, "How boring!" But I really wanted to wear the top because I bought it from the Maxx the other day and it has been begging me to wear it! So I thought, "What can I do to make this outfit not so boring?" The answer: a pop of red! I threw on a red necklace, red ring, and even painted my nails red. I don't feel so boring anymore! And now you know how I like to have conversations with myself!

Yesterday I felt very pretty wearing this pink sweater. It was Valentine's Day and I was sporting a color of love, running around doing sweet things for my three Valentines. During one of my errands I had to go to Kmart to make a quick exchange, then get to my son's school for his class party. The lady behind the service counter was very busy making change for the cashiers and dealing with customers, plus she was as slow as Christmas. In front of me was this sweet little 90 year old women with about 20 items to return. Ugh! I know I looked disgusted, because I sure felt disgusted. And then the angels began to sing as the sweet 90 year old lady said, "Oh, you just have one item? You should go ahead of me." I said, "Oh, thank you so much, you are so sweet!" And then the angels stopped singing and the little old lady said,"Well, you do look a little tired." (Insert screeching record sound here) At least my tired self made it to the party on time.

In honor of Valentine's Day I got all dressed up! Okay, not really. I wore this outfit to church yesterday, but it could work for today because it does have a little red in it. This weekend my sweetie and I went out to dinner with a group of friends to celebrate Valentine's Day (yes, we are romantic like that - our group loves each other). We went to a restaurant called Mr. Friendly's where they serve southern cuisine, and then went to a wine bar afterwards. We really had a great time sharing stories and laughing the night away. Nothing restores the soul like laughter. It was a wonderful way to end a stressful week. This week we begin on a note of love! Let's make it a good one! Have a happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

There are some bloggers out there with truly, wonderful pictures that I so admire. Singing in the mornin'

I love the sound of happy boys getting ready for school in the morning. As I type this quick post, they are singing in the upstairs bathroom while brushing their teeth. So happy! Last Saturday at my 1st grader's basketball game, Little G says to his coach during a time out, "Hey Coach! You can call me 'homeless man'........or 'homey'!" So after the game, my husband and I had to tell the little man the difference between a homeless man and a homey. Oh, the life lessons we teach!

Yesterday, when I was getting dressed, I noticed this sweater and shirt hanging beside each other in my closet. I loved how the navy made the turquoise pop!

There are several out there that are so very good - beautiful pictures, great designers, wonderful inspiration, and best of all, they are free! Let me introduce you to my favorites. First up we have Lonny Magazine. It was originated by the people who brought us Domino Magazine, which is no longer in publication. Here are some pictures from the latest issue:

What I learned from a fitness learning experience....

Failure - don't you just hate the word? How about "learning experience". I like that much better! I have had some questions about how the fitness challenge was going. If you are new around here, I challenged myself and my friend Amy to run 100 miles in the month of January. We started out great - running almost 23 miles in the first week, and then we had a snow and ice storm in South Carolina. That's right, in the south when that happens everyting shuts down, including my fitness challenge. The kids were home from school for 10 days straight, it was freezing, not to mention ice on the roads where we would run. On top of that, Amy's knee was hurting and my sciatic nerve hurt(stop laughing, I know I sound old!) so we decided it best to continue running at a more sane pace. So, we are still running but no longer keeping track of the score. The lessons I have learned from this little challenge are:

1. Exercising with a buddy is fun!
2. Know your limits
3. I love running when it's cold outside - very invigorating!
4. When you hurt, listen to your body and rest
5. It's never a failure when you learn something from the experience.

Okay, life lesson over for today. Yesterday I did work around the house and just wore sweatpants and sweatshirt, so today I felt like dressing up a little. I cleaned out my closet this weekend and rediscovered these awesome shoes that I have only worn a few times! Don't you love when that happens?

Playful patterns......

I am not one to mix my patterns. I know that it is fine to do, lots of people do it, mixing and matching patterns creates interest, yada, yada, yada. Still, I don't do it. I have tried, but it always turns out looking ridiculous, and I change. But, yesterday I had a change of heart. I mixed a couple of patterns that I could live with; look cute in even. It all started with a shirt with small polka dots. It's a spring time shirt so I layered it over a t-shirt for warmth. Then, my neck was still cold, not to mention the outfit was sort of boring so I brought out a scarf with stripes. Yes, stripes I said. Another pattern! I wrapped it around my neck and I thought, hey! that's not ridiculous, that's cute! And just like that I stepped out of the box.

Don't you hate when all the stores start sending out ads and catalogs with fresh spring items and we are stuck bundling up with the same winter clothes we've been wearing for months? Yesterday I pulled out this tunic that I wore last summer and threw a shrug on top for warmth. I felt hip and fresh because it was something I have not worn all fall or winter! Try pulling out a spring or summer top from last year and throw a sweater or blazer over it. Instant new outfit! You're welcome!

Did some strippin' this weekend!

No, not that kind of stripping! My husband and I decided to strip the wallpaper in the downstairs bath! It was way overdue. The paper wasn't terrible, but the guy that put the wallpaper up papered around our hideous light fixture instead of removing it, making it impossible to replace the light fixture without changing the walls. Note to wallpaper installers: Remove light fixtures before applying the wallpaper! So, the bathroom is in the process of getting a complete makeover! I will try to show before and after pictures when we're done!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Along with being productive, we watched the boys play their upward basketball games on Saturday morning and had dinner at our friend's house on Saturday night. It was a great weekend involving productivity, a chance to cheer the kids on and socializing with friends on top of that!

If you are in the Columbia, SC, area, you should run to the Handpicked warehouse sale they are having this weekend ony! The location is in Harbison by Michaels. Prices start at $2 and they are ready to wheel and deal! I went this morning and should be accessorized for months to come! If you have been reading my blog for awhile, you probably have noticed that I own quite a few pieces of jewelry from Handpicked. It is my favorite accessory store! Have fun!

Sorry that I have let posting go for several days. I am trying to get back into the swing of things and sometimes, you just need a break from picture taking and writing:) Anyway, my friend, Lucy, asked me to do a post about what I wear to work out. I told her that it ain't purty, but here it is - bare faced and everything! Am I a brave soul or what?! Since the new year, my friend Amy and I have been doing this fitness challenge that I blogged about so we are running outdoors most of the time. Usually the temperature is around 40 degrees, so we bundle up and go at it. We now have a new runner joining us, our friend Aimee. (I know, I have a lot of friends named Amy with different spellings - it's confusing!) This morning we ran across the Lake Murray dam - beautiful setting, but a bit breezy. This is what I wore:

So here's the breakdown - start with a great jog bra (I order mine from Roadrunners Sports and Title Nine - this is most important because the girls need support!), layer on a dri-fit shirt, and then layer a looser fleece, zip jacket, or something like that. I wear dri-fit pants from Nike (they are my faves), and hat or something over your ears is a must if it's in the low 40s. Of course, a pair of good running shoes is also needed - mine are Asics and I really like them. When I go to the gym, I pretty much wear the same thing minus the jacket and hat.

Well, it's the start of a new week and I am still at home with the kids. Are they ever going back to school? As you know, it is Martin Luther King Jr. Day so schools are closed and we are home. I am still trying hard to live in the present (remember my New Year's Resolution?) but enough is enough. I cannot wait for tomorrow when I drop those two adorable, loving, wild and energetic boys off at school and come home to peace and quiet. That's not exactly living in the moment of today is it? Yes, back to today. When I finish this post, I am going to get some exercise by battling the boys with a Just Dance competition and then we might go for a bike ride to get some fresh air. There, I did it! Back in the present!

However, I do need to travel back to yesterday for a moment. I have been handed down by my friend Amy, THE skirt of the fall and winter. I think every blogger in the blogosphere has it, and now, so do I! Amy decided it was too short for her (she is way tall and I am way short) so I was the fortunate recipient of the hand me down. I wore the skirt to church yesterday and this is how I styled it:

A kink in the fitness challenge....

Happy Friday, everyone! Boy, this snow and ice has really thrown a kink in my fitness challenge! I haven't been able to run since last Saturday. We may have to stretch this 100 miles in January out to the first week of February. We'll see!

Since we are still home from school because of the winter storm, activities this week have included going to the grand opening of Publix (just a mile from my house!! And yes, I know, I need a life!), going to the library, having many 9, 8, and 7 year old boys over to play (why do they have to yell and scream so much!?), playing with legos and watching movies. I need a girls weekend sooooo badly, or maybe even just a girls night out!! Anyone? Anyone?

I haven't dressed in anything worth talking about this week, but on the grand opening day of our new Publix I new I'd be running into people who were looking for excuses to get out of the house like us. I threw on some jeans, sweater and scarf and we ventured out.

Oh yeah, did I tell you my hairdresser cut bangs? The verdict's still out on this do.......

Major cabin fever, but I see sunny skies.....

Hello everyone! I am sorry that I have not posted in several days. If you haven't heard, we had a major snow and ice storm here in the southeast (major by our standards anyway) and we are on the third day of school being closed! You would think that I would have plenty of time to blog since we are stranded at home, but with the boys hanging around and ice on the ground it is hard to get motivated to do anything but sit by the fire in my lounging clothes and watch movies. Today, although cabin fever is still here, I see beautiful sunny skies! This gives me hope that there will be school tomorrow, that our life will get back to normal, and that I will be motivated to blog again!

Besides being stuck at home, my computer has something funky going on with it and it's not allowing me to edit my photos. Not that my pictures are ever the greatest quality, but these pictures are not cropped like I like them. Sorry about that. I wore this outfit to church on Sunday (our last day without snow and ice!).

Ahhh, today my muscles are thanking me. I am not running:) Amy and I have run 20 miles this week (technically I have run 19 1/2 and Amy has run 20 because she outran me on the treadmill yesterday - damn that Amy!) But today, we are resting. My legs feel good and strong and I am very proud of how well we have done so far. 80 more miles to go, but let's not think about that right not. Right now, let's think about that special dark chocolate Kit Kat that I just ate. Have you had one of those babies? Yep, a little slice of heaven right in your mouth. I know what you're thinking, it's the beginning of the new year and I really should not be eating chocolate. Well for the love of my sanity, I ran 20 miles (okay - 19 1/2), I deserve a Kit Kat!

Just Dance!

Have you played "Just Dance" yet? The boys got "Just Dance 2" for Christmas and it is, hands down, my favorite video game evah! I could dance to that game for hours! And I promise, there is no greater joy than watching your children trying to keep up with the dance moves, and there is nothing funnier than watching your husband make a fool of himself! I highly recommend this form of entertainment - cheap, funny, and you get exercise. Just Dance!

Curse you fitness challenge!

So if you remember, my friend Amy and I are doing a fitness challenge this month - run 100 miles in the month of January. Well friends, it ain't easy! Yesterday we ran 7 miles through the country. The weather was great, the scenery was wonderful and we were so proud of ourselves when we finished. Today, OMG! My legs are killing me! In the words of my little G man - "curse you fitness challenge!" To top my pain off, I asked Amy if she was sore. Do you know what she said? "No, but I have big muscles." Big muscles, my ass! Those are conditioned muscles as opposed to my "I'm taking the month of December off from working out" sore muscles. I'll never take December off again (at least not until December 2011). So, what did I do today to help things out, we ran another 4 1/2 miles today! What was I thinking?

I did manage to get dressed today. After crawling out of the shower, I shimmied my legs into my jeggings, threw on a sweater and put my feet into some boots. If I drop something on the floor today, it will just have to stay there. I can no longer bend down to get it. 15 miles down, 85 to go.

Going to the movies.....

So, I'm working on my fitness and living in the present this year....let's see how I did yesterday. I ran 3.5 miles on a hilly route - check! (and ow! my bum is sore!) It was a perfect day for running outside. The sun was out, the wind was calm and the temperature was around 40 degrees, crisp but not too cold. Amy and I started our 100 mile challenge on a great note.

As for living the rest of the day in the present, I snuggled with my first grader while he read to me and I was proud of my third grader when he put together a toy for his younger brother. I think the two of them might have made it through the afternoon without fighting! My hubby came home and grilled steak for supper and then cleaned the kitchen - thanks honey! Topping off the day, I found out that a friend of mine who has been waiting for about a year to adopt a baby, brought her new baby girl home yesterday. Congratulations Holly and Timothy!! God is good!

I wore this outfit during the holidays when I took the boys to see Yogi Bear! It was a nice and loose outfit for eating lots of popcorn!

Happy New Year and happy Monday everyone! I am sorry that I have not posted since Christmas Eve, but I have been busy with my family - visiting, playing games, watching movies, building legos, shooting hoops with the boys (if you call playing HORSE shooting hoops), etc. I am now ready to start blogging again and getting back into the swing of things.

Of course, with a new year, that means swinging some new things for a lot of us. I am no different! First up on my short, but well thought out list of new things in giving my fitness a jump start by joining in Chasing Davies fitness challenge by running 100 miles during the month of January. What!? You read it right - 100 miles! I know that sounds like a lot, but you could break it down like this - 4 miles 6 days a week, or 5 miles 5 days a week, or 4 marathons - you choose! Now, I am not one to face a challenge like this alone, so I recruited my friend, Amy, to join me. We go for our first run today!

The second new thing I will be working on this year is living in the present. I am so tired of worrying about the future - When do I need to go back to work? What if I screw my boys up and they don't turn out to be the perfect young men that I expect them to be? Are we ever going to be able to move to our dream house where there is no football stadium next door? No more worrying about these things! God gives us a "present" each and every day and we should relish it, soak it up, pay attention to it - all of it! The little things in each and every day.....accept that compliment and give compliments back, give lots of hugs, acknowledge the politeness of your children and the little acts of kindness that you witness, feel good and make others feel good around you. Each and every day! This is my resolution for 2011.

Ahh, Christmas vacation......no early morning rush to school, no homework in the afternoon and no early bedtimes. Just good ole relaxation with my 2 favorite boys. I love these 2 weeks - my Christmas hustle and bustle is over (if it ain't bought now, it ain't going to get bought!) and now we just wait for the big Christmas morning to arrive. We are going to take our time, wrap some presents, play some games, do some baking, watch movies, and whatever else comes to mind while I'm hangin' with the boys. What the heck is a snood you ask? I had to look that one up myself, so let's all learn the word together, shall we?

Yes, since the 30 for 30 challenge ended, I have shopped - and it felt good! Now, I didn't go all crazy, buying everything in site. It is Christmas after all and we have two little boys who are anxiously awaiting Santa's arrival, so there are limits. I did, however, find this cozy little shrug at the Loft that I plan on wearing until it falls apart! I am in love! This baby looks good thrown over everything! This is the final outfit for the 30 for 30 challenge. I apologize for the pictures being a little blurry, I couldn't get the lighting right. This outfits kinda says, "preppy, got-it-together" mom to me, ya think? If so, then I can fool a lot of people wearing this - they might actually think I've "got-it-together" and I so don't!

So, what did I learn from the challenge?

1. I've got way too many clothes! (I will be cleaning out the closet in January.)

3. It feels good to look good!

4. I don't have to shop to come up with a "new" outfit - I just have to play around with what I have.

5. Accessories are less expensive than clothes and can change the look of your whole outfit.

All in all, I give this experience a thumbs up! You should try it with me next time!!

I know it's late in the challenge, but today, I wanted to experiment with my hair as an accessory. I've used everything elso I could think of, so why not. So I watched a tutorial on the poofy ponytail and gave it a shot. I thought it turned out pretty good, and then my husband came home last night and said, "Hey Cutie!". So, I'll call this a winner. Well it has gotten cold down here in the south! The highs have been in the 40s this week and we are not used to these temps in December! I know all you guys with snow on the ground are laughing about our "cold spell" right now, but it has presented somewhat of a problem for me and this challenge. While I do have a few warm sweaters in my closet, I did not include them in my 30 for 30 the challenge. However, I did include a pair of black high heeled boots that I have not worn, so I made a decision - switch out the boots for another sweater! Have you guys finished your Christmas shopping? I certainly have not and this week I almost had a panic attack about it. My boys want some Harry Potter Legos sets and little did I know, but those sets are in high demand this Christmas! I thought I would walk in Kmart, grab a few legos and mark that one off the list. So I went to Kmart on Tuesday and the place where Harry legos had been were wiped clean! Panic struck! I made a beeline for home, sat at the computer and had to order from several different places to find stock on the items I needed, and one thing was sold out before I could check out! Note to self - shop earlier next year!

On another note, I rembered that I had not worn this navy blazer in the 30 for 30 challenge. It was almost like putting on a brand new item! Ahhh, I can't wait to wear some new clothes....

This week we are on the home stretch of Kendi's 30 for 30 challenge. I have to say, the challenge has been a good experience for me. It has made me think out of the box and come up with outftis that I otherwise would not have. Recuperation and 18/30

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you had a wonderful and very thankful Thanksgiving. Our day was great! My in-laws came over (Mom and Dad in law, brother-in-law, wife, and 2 girls) and they spent the night. My father-in-law is a beautiful man inside and out, and has unfortunatley been diagnosed with alzheimers. We weren't sure how this Thanksgiving would be for him because lately the disease has really been rearing its ugly head. My sweet mother-in-law takes care of him 24/7 to make sure he is kept on a normal routine and to keep him safe. Well, God is good! He was perfectly content yesterday and this morning, and my mother-in-law was able to relax and visit with her children and grandchildren. For this, I am so thankful!

In my last post, I showed you pictures of some Thanksgiving centerpieces that I looked at to find inspiration for my own centerpiece. This is what I came up with:

The best part of all was that I only spent $8.50 to make the centerpiece! I already had the iron stand that the, the candles, and the bird ornaments. I purchased the moss, mums and pumpkins from Walmart, came home and played around with everything until, voila! I think it came together nicely, no?

On to my 18th outfit.....simple, simple, simple! It was a little warm here, so I needed to hang up my outer layers for the day. You can't get any easier than a white t and a scarf!

On Saturday, we took the boys to a South Carolina football game - it was little G's first! For those of you that know me, don't worry - my blood still runneth orange! I am actually a Clemson grad and I love my Tigers, but I have married a Carolina grad and he does rule football in this house. Our boys are growing up Gamecock fans, but I wouldn't change that bond between father and sons for anything! Anyway, we had a great time tailgating with friends and watching the Gamecocks dominate!

10/30 - Military style with a side of hot pink....yes, please!

This 30 for 30 challenge has a funny effect on us participants....we feel compelled to get dressed and look our best everyday, even when we have nothing going on! At least, I feel like that, do you? Yesterday I had nothing going on except picking the boys up from school, helping with homework, and watching them play with friends in the yard. Do these activities require an "outfit"? No, not really. But I'll tell you what having on a good-looking outfit does for me - it makes me stand a little taller, look people in the eyes more, accept compliments with pride and just feel more confident. Confidence, that's what a good looking outfit does for me!

So yesterday, I tried out this military style and then added a pop of hot pink. I really like the result!

9/30 - All Bad ass at the Oyster Roast

Happy Hump Day everyone! Last Saturday night my hubby and I went with a group of friends to an oyster roast at a local park. If you've never been to an oyster roast, I highly recommend going to one - even if you don't like oysters. The atmosphere is so fun - usually a little cold, relaxed, people are bundled up and bellied up to the oyster table shucking oysters, dipping them in cocktail sauce and throwing the shells. It's a dinner of oysters, cocktail sauce, saltine crackers and beer - yum! Since it was pretty chilly, I put on my trusty orange jacket and my new fingerless gloves that make me feel pretty bad ass! I wouldn't mess with me - would you?

Has something funny ever happened, or someone said something so funny that you smiled about it all day the next day? That was me yesterday. After our church service on Sunday we were having a covered dish lunch to celebrate the church's 160th birthday. During the service, you could smell all that good food waiting to be eaten. Little G (my first grade son) leaned over to me during church and said, "Mom, I smell something good! Is that our daily bread?" I thought I was going to fall out of my chair laughing! I guess it was a daily bread that smelled so good! Yep, I smiled about that one all day yesterday!

With Thanksgiving coming up right around the corner, I have been thinking about my dining room and how I can make it a cozy comfy place where my family will just want to linger awhile after dinner. I always get great inspiration from looking at pictures, so I hit the internet and did some digging. I would love to eat my turkey dinner in any of these beautiful rooms and linger for a long time afterwards.....

I love the luxurious silk window treatments and the chairs on the ends of the tables are so gorgeous!

The chandy is a show stopper in this one! I love a round table and I think I could live in those comfy chairs.... Also, how about the urn on the table? Love..

This one might be my fave! I love the wood on the walls (maybe mahogany?), the green upholstered chairs, round table and feathers on top! I am definitely using feathers in my Thanksgiving arrangement - I've been inspired.

This room is bright and cheery and out of the norm for me. I usually go for darker, warm colors (see above!). However, I really love the white table, the chairs at the ends, and the rug. This has such an eclectic yet welcoming look. I'd love to tour the rest of the house - wouldn't you?

Chalk board in the dining room!? Loooove it! I have been a bit obsessed with chalkboards lately (I will be blogging about this obsession at some point.) I also love the light fixture and the numbers on the chairs.

This room says - bring on the crowd! I would love to have a dining room that could seat this many people (mine is on the small side). Love the blue, the ceiling, the french doors and that looong rustic table! Wine anyone?

I wore this out and about yesterday and then to a jewelry/monogram bag party last night. Let me tell ya, a fur vest paired with some kick ass boots can make you feel like you can take on the world! I wouldn't have even stood in my way yesterday! You should definitely give this look a try!

Okay, so we are on day 4 and I am already looking at other items in my closet and wanting to wear them. The not shopping part has not been hard this week, but I keep seeing things I already own and want to put them on. What have I gotten myself into? I need to snap out of it - I can do this! I love this outfit! It's really a no brainer - white t-shirt, jeans, cardi and boots - but I love that the cardi is long and the jeans are long (almost drag the floor), and the boots give me a little height, and then I added the striped scarf for to add some POW! 2 down and 28 to go! I try to stay a day or two ahead of my posts, so I actually wore this outfit on Sunday. I had a sick one that I had to take to the doctor and the rest of the day was spent relaxing at home. I love wearing a big comfy sweater to relax in! When we got home I threw off the shoes and belt and snuggled under the blanket with little G to watch movies. I hate it when my boys are sick, but I love that they want to love on me! These are moments to be cherished.

Okay guys, after much contemplation, I have finally chosen my 30 items. It was harder than I thought! The first 20 or so items were easy - just picked my favs. But those last 10 had to be items that added some oomph. Anyway, here goes:

Yesterday was sort of drizzly and cooler here and I needed something cozy and warm to wear. What says warm and cozy like a fair isle sweater!? Kitchens for my friend Amy.....

My friend Amy and her husband bought a 1980's ranch style house that sits on 4 beautiful acres of land, that includes horse stables that will eventually become a guest house or party place or something like that. They have been busy doing renovations and adding square footage in the attic to accomodate their 2 boys' rooms and it is almost finished. So the next phase of their little project will be the kitchen. Now, Amy does not like to look through magazines and online all day long to search for her dream kitchen, but I do! Here are a few that I have fallen in love with. Maybe Amy will too.....

Love, love, love the light fixtures, tan subway tile, wood stained cabinets on each side of the hood, and the hood - I die!

I love the stainless steel appliances, the hood, the pantry doors and most of all the huge island that looks like a piece of furniture!

Love the light fixtures, the size of this kitchen, and the lighting in the cabinets with glass doors!

Check out the color of those cabinets - it's like a gray stain or something. Love the light fixtures!

Again, I love these light fixtures! I love the white cabinets with the dark countertops - nice contrast.

I am so in love with this kitchen...it might be my all time favorite! Black cabinets and chandy's!? Loooove it!

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a great time trick or treating last night - I know my boys sure did! Did you have any motley crews that looked like this coming to your front door?

My 2 are the ghostbusters! Obviously they are not doing their job because there is a ghost in the group!

Anyway, we had a great time and now it's back to reality. Don't you know there are some frustrated teachers out there with all of the tired, sugared up children in the classrooms!? Whew!

So last Friday I spent the day helping with activities at school, then to a neighborhood tailgate party, and afterwards to our high school homecoming game. I knew that I needed an outfit that I could make a quick change with for the cooler night time weather. During the day, I wore this ensemble:

I am not normally a frilly, romantic-style, victorian kind of girl, but I have to admit - I love the lace trend going on right now! Especially the lace tops in neutral colors. It looks so "Anthropologie", and vintage. I found this top in the Juniors department at Kohls a couple of months ago. I don't normally shop in that department, but I spotted this cream colored lace hanging on the wall and I had to try it on. To my surprise, I loved how it fit and looked. It was pretty hot here yesterday, so I wore it without anything layered on top, but just think of all the possibilities - lace peeking out from cardigans, blazers and jackets, oh my! What a great way to add some interest to your wardrobe!

Happy hump day everyone! Yesterday was humid and hot here, but I was determined to wear my clogs from Tarjay that I just love! So I put together this ensemble that kept me cool enough outside and comfortable enough to go volunteer at school. I really like how it all came together. I felt casual and hip all day.
